Before Paul could say one word, Vanessa quickly replied, “Oh, Yes. What a wonderful idea. We’ll talk more about the picnic later. What does Glistening River look like?” she asked, always full of questions.
Damien and Chandra looked at each other for a moment, trying to find the right words to describe its beauty.
“It’s the most gorgeous place I have ever seen and I have been all over the country as a Knight.” Damien said.
“Breath taking is the way I would describe it. The grass around the waters edge is a deep emerald green, and felt like you were walking on a plush velvet carpet. The birch trees with their trunks that shine like silver in the sunlight. The many varieties of flowers all in different colors are amazing. I saw bluebells, roses of pink and red, daisies, sweet Williams, purple irises and red and white trilliums. It looked as if someone had planted a rainbow and the flowers grew from it. The river was so clear you could see into its depths. The sand on the bottom sparkled like millions of little diamonds with gold flakes mixed in. It got its name, The Glistening River, because of these sparkles. Soon, it will be just the right amount of warm to swim in.” Chandra paused for a breath, then continued,
“I saw different types of birds, such as red-winged blackbirds, humming birds, robins and a few others that I don’t know the names of. There are butterflies and moon moths, some deer and I think I saw a red fox. Truly, Vanessa, it is a place where fairytales are born.”
For once Vanessa was mesmerized. She was lost in Chandra’s words, picturing every detail as it was said. “Wow.” Was all that passed her lips.
